This 2019 note concerns Bourzat’s therapeutic framework as described in the book; it is not clinical guidance.

The book's description presents Consciousness Medicine as a therapeutic framework combining psychotherapy with Bourzat's experience of Mazatec psychedelic traditions, with attention to preparation and integration.

When I wrote this, I was reading the book for a new project. I found some of its pointers useful and its guidance fairly complete, but I objected to the non-scientific lens. I did not think everything could be quantified, yet the references to tarot cards and spirits bothered me.

I understood those experiences in terms of imagination or the subconscious and questioned the appeal to spirits. That was my reaction to the book at the time.
