Book review
The Psychedelic Explorer’s Guide
The Psychedelic Explorer’s Guide by James (Jim) Fadiman gives you an overview of what was known when I reviewed it in 2019 about using psychedelics for therapy/self-care/self-exploration.
These notes were published in 2019 and discuss Fadiman's psychedelic research and practice claims as presented in the book at that time.
The Psychedelic Explorer’s Guide by James (Jim) Fadiman gives you an overview of what was known when I reviewed it in 2019 about using psychedelics for therapy/self-care/self-exploration.
I liked that it gave a good overview and added to my knowledge base around the topic. It was less structured/logical than I expected, but that was ok.
It does feature some very useful links and I think it’s a good stepping-stone to learning more.
Publisher-style synopsis in the original notes: the book covers guided psychedelic experiences, therapeutic and personal uses, and research that Fadiman regarded as neglected or newly emerging. These were the book's claims at the time of my 2019 review.
