Book review
Astrophysics for People in a Hurry
In brief
A short, positive note on Tyson’s introduction to the universe, its elements and cosmic scale. Looking beyond Earth offers a welcome wider perspective on human life.
Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil DeGrasse Tyson is a great short (3.5h) introduction to astrophysics. It touches upon the size of the universe, the elements and where they originate from, and gives us humans a somewhat larger perspective.
One point I recorded from Tyson's book in 2020 was that cosmic expansion gradually makes stars unreachable, at a rate I recalled as a few stars per year out of billions. That figure is my reading note, not a checked current estimate.
